The Professional Standards for BC Educators are the standards that every teacher must follow. While I think some are obvious, such as educators value the success of students and act in their best interests, it is important that they are written down. They also encompass behaviour ideals such as compassion, and being a role model. There are also standards for teachers to have broad knowledge, implement effective planning, contribute, and engage in the profession. The standards are broad enough that they are not forcing educators to be exactly one way, but give enough guidance that teachers can know exactly what is expected of them.
